18,000  express interest in jobs at Universal Studios Bedford

More than 18,000 people have registered to receive job information from Universal Destinations and Experiences in anticipation of its new Bedford theme park opening in 2031.

According to the company, approximately 80 percent of those registering live in or around Bedford, while 2,000 suppliers have also expressed interest in partnering with the attraction.

“Since announcing our intent to proceed with this transformative project, subject to receiving the relevant planning consent approvals, strong interest and enthusiasm continues,” said a spokesperson. “We are excited about the significant opportunities our planned project presents.”

The company applied to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government earlier this year for a Special Development Order to build the 500 acre park in Kempston Hardwick.

Public consultation on the plan remains open until 31 August, and Universal said it remains “fully committed to ensuring our SDO application is thoroughly vetted.”

“The planning process facilitates open dialogue and feedback, and we appreciate Bedford Borough’s commitment to that process and continued support of our proposed development.”
