Admiral Slots has become the first national business to officially partner with the WalkSafe Safety Map, a move aimed at bolstering support for women and vulnerable people across the UK.
Since June 2023, Admiral’s 230+ venues nationwide have joined the WalkSafe+ app as Safe Spaces, offering crucial refuge and assistance. Many of these venues are open 24/7, equipped with CCTV and lighting, and staffed by teams trained to handle emergencies and provide support.
The collaboration has already had a tangible impact for people feeling unsafe on the UK’s high streets. According to WalkSafe, “several documented incidents show vulnerable individuals presenting themselves at Admiral venues,” with staff stepping in to help women who have felt unsafe and sought refuge at the AGC. Stephen Suggett, national security manager at Admiral, records every reported incident to monitor and enhance safety protocols. In recognition of their efforts, Admiral received the High Street Hero Award from WalkSafe, celebrating their role in community safety.
WalkSafe praised the partnership, stating: “Admiral staff have fully embraced WalkSafe’s mission.”
Kevin Farnsworth, the Admiral’s regional operations manager, noted: “We take our responsibilities as an integral part of the UK’s night-time economy very seriously.”
As does trade body the Gambling Business Group which has been a srtrong advocate of the WalkSafe project, raising its profile amongst the membership. Charlotte Meller, General Manager of the GBG, said: “We have been strong advocates of the WalkSafe scheme for a number of years now and have advised members on how it works and the important role it plays in local communities, as well as safety for its own staff and customers.”
