AI is AIright with us, says Helena Rudd

The marketing director of the Rudd Group has told hospitality stakeholders not to fear the increased integration of AI within the leisure and hospitality sector.

In an interview published in the latest edition of Bar & Pub magazine, Helena Rudd, marketing chief at the Newcastle-based supplier to the pub and bar sector (which under Bob Rudd started life back in 1989 as a fruity merchant)  spoke of how she envisions AI enhancing the average punter experience, without threatening the jobs of those staff members with an actual pulse.

“If you’re worried AI will take jobs, think of it this way: AI won’t replace bartenders who know regulars by name, AI won’t replace chefs who craft incredible dishes and AI won’t replace managers who create an unbeatable atmosphere,” she said.

“Imagine AI-powered CRM systems that don’t just store customer preferences but actively enhance their experience – remembering a guest’s favourite drink, preferred table or dietary needs and prompting staff with tailored recommendations even before they ask,” she continued. “This level of personalisation isn’t just limited to food and drink: we see this evolving in gaming, where terminals will recognise users, display their go-to games and suggest new ones based on their playing habits.”
