Annual Sunday Service on the Dodgems held at Ludlow May Fair

Representatives from Ludlow Town Council joined members of the Wynn family at Ludlow May Fair on 4 May for the traditional Sunday Service on the Dodgems.

The annual event was led by the Archdeacon of Ludlow, and offered attendees “a joyful and informal celebration” at the heart of the popular fair.

“Ludlow Town residents and visitors came together with the Wynn family, members of Ludlow Town Council, the Mayor of Ludlow and Ludlow’s Town Crier for the special service,” said a spokesperson for Ludlow Town Council.

“Led by the Archdeacon of Ludlow, The Venerable Dr Fiona Gibson, accompanied by the Choir of St Laurence’s Church, the congregation participated in a wonderful selection of cheerful hymns and thoughtful blessings along with The Showman’s Prayer read by members of the Wynn family.”

Speaking after the event, a spokesperson for Wynn’s Fun Fairs thanked the council for supporting the ceremony, commenting “we really appreciate it,” while Future4Fairgrounds praised the service as “a wonderful tradition.”

It was also the final outing for Beverley Waite as Ludlow Town Mayor, who added: “It was wonderful to represent the town council as the mayor for the last time. I have been so proud to be able to work for you all and to represent us once again at this beautiful service.”
