Arcade Tales has published a new book featuring photos of Cain’s Amusements taken by George Wilson in the 1980s, following a successful exhibition last summer at the Beach Street Gallery.

The 62-page book includes dozens of images captured by Wilson during his time as a bingo caller at the arcade, which have since featured in numerous major collections such as the British Culture Archive.

“It’s here!” said an Arcade Tales spokesperson. “Fabulous new book of arcade photos from the 1980s in Herne Bay! 62 pages (plus cover) of black and white images, for only £10.”

Last year’s exhibition saw Cain’s Amusements team up with the gallery for its private view, offering a special arcade tour after a talk from CCCU Professor Alan Meades on “the rich arcade history of East Kent and with a special focus on Herne Bay.”

Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to Raise the Roof at Beach Creative.
