Bingo Association donates 38th Sunshine Coach to Applefields school in York

The Bingo Association has donated its latest Sunshine Coach to Applefields school in York, marking the 38th specially adapted coach funded as part of its ongoing support for Variety, the Children’s Charity.

Association CEO Miles Baron handed over the keys during a ceremony attended by the Mayor of York and Daryl Boothroyd from Clifton Bingo club, enabling Applefields to offer students enriching experiences outside the classroom.

“We’re honoured to support Applefields and are grateful for the presence of the Mayor of York David Skaith and representatives from Clifton Bingo in York,” said Miles.

“This milestone – £2m raised and 38 Sunshine Coaches donated – is a testament to the incredible generosity of bingo players and staff across the country. Seeing the direct impact on children’s lives makes every effort worthwhile.”

Speaking on the presentation, Applewood head teacher Adam Booker said “it’s a bus that will allow us to get more of our pupils into the community and prepare for adult life.”

“Variety and the people that are part of the Bingo Association have shown their commitment to enabling young people with additional needs to be proud, contributing members of their communities, and we cannot thank them enough.”
