Bingo Association engages with Bank of England on Banknote Checking Scheme

The Bingo Association has engaged with the Bank of England on how to help small businesses protect themselves from counterfeit currency, backing the launch of the Banknote Checking Scheme.

The BoE’s free “two quick checks” training programme is designed to support SMEs with the training to identify fake notes, as well as providing regular updates on developments affecting cash handlers.

“The Bingo Association is pleased to be part of the Bank of England’s engagement with industry associations on how businesses can better protect themselves,” said head of governance and compliance, Paul Swindon.

“We still heavily rely on cash in the bingo industry. We have to ensure that all our members have the tools necessary to ensure their businesses are safe. I would encourage all businesses to do it, it’s a no-brainer. It’s great advice, and easy to follow.”

Members of the BCS receive support from the Bank of England, as well as up-to-date guidance and training materials on checking banknotes and handling counterfeits.
