Blackpool Council has confirmed that the town’s famous Illuminations will once again be extended into the new year.
The traditional attraction will be “switched on” 29 August, and run throughout the festive period until 4 January 2026.
“For generations, children and adults alike have been entranced by the spellbinding seafront spectacle which bathes the promenade with more than a million magical bulbs in a shimmering sea of light,” reported Visit Blackpool.
“The greatest free light show on earth has been a major part of Blackpool’s attraction scene since 1879 when they were described as ‘artificial sunshine’. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience miles of festoon, larger-than-life tableaux, instagrammable features, laser technology and stunning projection shows during the dark winter months.”
Details regarding which celebrity will oversee the Switch-On are yet to be announced, however the event will once again take place at Tower Festival Headland.
