Blackpool named most affordable  destination

Credit card provider Aqua has named Blackpool ast the UK’s most affordable staycation destination, with the Fylde coast resort beating rivals Portsmouth, Eastbourne and Torquay to the top spot.

Praised for its “great value without skimping on fun,” Blackpool was crowned after analysis which took in the cost of accommodation, average temperature, monthly rainfall, and monthly search volume.

“Travelling within the UK can often be a cost-effective way to escape day-to-day life, eliminating the need to fork out on flights and other overseas travel expenses,” said Aqua. “However, we recognise that every holidaymaker has unique financial circumstances and varying budgets.”

“Blackpool ranks as the most affordable staycation destination, with hotel stays averaging just £82 per night. This classic seaside town offers great value without skimping on fun, with attractions like Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the iconic tower, and lively promenade. It’s ideal for families or couples seeking a traditional beach break on a budget.”

Portsmouth was ranked second for combining “coastal charm with rich maritime history,” providing those on a budget with “a smart choice for an affordable summer escape.”

Eastbourne, with its pier and extensive beaches, was tied in third place with the jewel of the English
Riviera Torquay, offering visitors “palm-lined promenades, sandy beaches, and coastal walks.”
