The Blackpool Pier Company has resubmitted plans to erect two rides either side of the entrance to South Pier, after initial proposals were rejected by planning officers in September.
The application is for a Certificate of Proposed Lawfulness for the updated scheme, which would see the Log Flume and Star Flyer rides operating between 1 April and 31 October each year.
“A Certificate of Proposed Lawfulness would effectively mean they would not need actual planning permission,” reported the Blackpool Gazette.
“The applicants argue that the intended use of the land around South Pier is similar to the council’s own Christmas By the Sea, close to North Pier, which is again able to proceed this year.”
In a statement, the Blackpool Pier Company said “there are significant parallels between these two applications.”
