Fresh from a major renovation of its roof terrace and arcade, Bognor Pier has lodged new plans to open a cafe and sauna at the southern end of the attraction.
Work to overhaul the Grade II-listed landmark began in June 2014, with the latest proposals part
of the pier’s plan to provide a year-round customer offering.
“A pair of linked applications could see a redundant storage building at the southern end of Bognor Pier transformed into a café and sauna,” reported Sussex Express. “The plans also include a listed building consent request due to the pier’s heritage status and its location within The Steyne Conservation Area.”
Speaking on plans earlier this year, operations manager Karl Drew told the Bognor Regis Observer “we have been slowly renovating the business and the pier, which is no simple task.”
“That’s without the constant battle with the sea and the sea air, but all this comes from the support of everyone using it.”
