Serving as a counter balance to the industry’s affection for golf Boomerang Digital broke the mould last year when it launched a charity cricket tournament. The celebration of leather against willow has grown in popularity with Boomerang announcing three teams representing itself, Bacta, and The Bingo Association. With a host of sponsorship opportunities and a Smorgasbord of entertainment for the non-cricketers Boomerang has its eye in on raising even more money for nominated charities the Stroke Association, Variety – The Children’s Charity and the Bacta Charitable Trust.
Industry cricketers representing Boomerang Digital, Bacta and the Bingo Association will be competing in the second edition of the Boomerang Charity one day tournament taking place at Walton Cricket Club, Walton-on-Trent, Derbyshire on Thursday 10th July.
With the first game starting at 10am and arrivals welcomed from 8.30am for breakfast the round-robin format will see each team play twice. Proceeds from the day will be shared between the Stroke Association (nominated by Boomerang), Variety – The Children’s Charity (The Bingo Association) and the Bacta Charitable Trust.
Looking ahead to the event, Boomerang Director of Sales and event organiser Freddie Shreeve said: “In our debut year we succeeded in raising £3,000 which was a quite brilliant effort. We’re aiming higher this year and have added a number of new sponsorship opportunities. It’s great that we will be fielding three full teams and I’m delighted to confirm that we‘ve had a brilliant response with organisations really getting behind what is the industry’s only charity cricket tournament.”
He added: “Whilst the industry takes its cricket very seriously and features some talented players the day isn’t just about what takes place on the field. We want non-players and supporters to join us at what is a beautiful venue, enjoy the music, the entertainment, the food and of course the bar which will be open all day. We’ve put together a collection of high profile great value sponsorship opportunities starting at just £100 and I would be delighted to hear from any interested organisations wishing to gain profile and help raise funds for what are three really deserving causes.”
