Buzz Bingo acquires Astoria club to secure future in Hull

Buzz Bingo has acquired the Astoria bingo club in Hull, ensuring the company’s future in the city after plans were announced to demolish its existing site on Oslo Road in order to build a McDonald’s drive-through.

The historic club on Holderness Road will reopen as Buzz Bingo Hull Astoria on 7 October, just two days after the closure of the Oslo Road unit, before a full renovation scheduled for early 2026.

“This is a good news story for our community in Hull,” said regional manager Chris Colebrooke. “While it’s sad to leave our current home, we’re incredibly excited to welcome the Astoria team and its customers into the Buzz Bingo family.”

“By acquiring Astoria, we can keep our dedicated teams together and continue offering a vibrant, welcoming place for the community to play bingo.”

The move will result in no job losses, while under Buzz’s ownership the Astoria’s opening hours will be extended to 11am 11pm, seven days a week.

Astoria’s GM Dave Jackson said: “The investment from Buzz to give the club a glow up next year will ensure we have an exciting future for bingo in Hull and a chance to appeal to new customers in the city.”
