Buzz Bingo Worthing to permanently close its doors

Buzz Bingo Worthing will permanently close on 25 January as plans move forward to demolish the building and replace it with flats, houses, and commercial space.

Cayuga Developments, which acquired the freehold of the site last year, submitted plans to Worthing Borough Council in October to redevelop the property. The proposal includes building 47 flats, six houses, and commercial units to help meet local housing needs.

Buzz Bingo held a lease until 2039, but the company confirmed the hall, which underwent a refurbishment last year, will shut its doors for good next month.

“After being informed by our landlord of their plans to redevelop the Worthing club site into apartments and houses, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close our doors. Our last day of operation will be Saturday, January 25, 2025, when we will host a goodbye session of bingo in the afternoon and evening,” said Stevie Shaves, chief operating officer of Buzz Bingo. “We want to reiterate that this closure is not a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our team. These decisions are never easy, and we want to ensure our colleagues are supported during this transition. We will actively explore redeployment options, offering transfers to other clubs whenever possible, and providing ongoing support throughout the process.”

Shaves invited customers to join its Brighton club and assured them the brand remains committed to its UK operations both in-person and online.
