Work on upgrading popular rides on Clacton Pier is on track to be completed for the summer season.
One of the major improvements is a second train for the Looping Star roller coaster, which will double its capacity and help reduce queues during peak times. Work is also progressing on the iconic Helter Skelter, which was dismantled at the end of last year for repairs and repainting. Pier rides manager Harry Turley said it has been a busy winter for the team, with significant progress made.
“The second train for the Looping Star will be a real bonus as it will mean 24 people can ride at any one time,” he added. “This will be a major advantage when we are really busy and will reduce any waiting times for our customers. The Helter Skelter is a significant project – the ride is a landmark on the pier – and it will be completed to a high standard.”
On top of these projects, the Bumper Boats are receiving a facelift and signage is being replaced around the ride deck.
“There are many improvements being made to our existing rides before we get to further investment in the future,” said Turley. “We never stand still, and there are always jobs that need doing as we prepare for the season ahead.”
