Claremont Pier adds 150-metres of lighting in latest investment

The owners of Claremont Pier have unveiled their latest investment in the Lowestoft landmark, with festoon lighting now stretching the length of the attraction, which was recently extended to 150 metres after a successful fundraising campaign.

The Mayne, Manning, and Llewellyn families have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds restoring the South Beach pier since taking it on in 2020, including the reopening of a 60 metre stretch of decking last year.

“We’re excited to share a bright new update to the seafront,” said a spokesperson. “New lights have been installed along the pier to beautifully highlight its outline at night. The added lighting not only enhances the pier’s iconic shape against the evening sky, but also improves visibility and safety for everyone enjoying a night-time stroll.”

“Whether you’re taking a sunset walk, snapping photos, or just enjoying the peaceful views, the pier now shines a little brighter after dark. Come check it out and see the glow for yourself!”

Images of the lighting shared by the pier received an overwhelmingly positive response, with local resident Malcolm Hicks commenting “the pier looks great lit up at night, well done you are doing a great job restoring it.”

Lynette James added “they look stunning. Well done for all you are doing to improve the pier and seafront. I will definitely come and take a look.”
