Commission hosts third Operator Engagement Forum with “honest and open conversations” on the table

The Gambling Commission hosted its annual Operator Engagement Forum in BIrmingham a fortnight ago, with more than 150 representatives from across the industry invited to have “honest and open conversations” with the regulator on how to build a more collaborative relationship.

The Gambling Commission hosted its third Operator Engagement Forum on 9 October, inviting more than 150 representatives from across the sector to the ICC Birmingham for “honest and open conversations” regarding compliance and collaboration.

Subjects up for discussion included how the regulator can work more closely with the industry to ensure robust compliance “in the smoothest way possible,” as well as in-depth insights on research, policy and digital.

“As well as updates and discussion on compliance, we saw detailed presentations on current issues connected to anti-money laundering as well as a forward look on what comes next in implementing the Gambling Act Review,” said a spokesperson.

“For the first time at this OEF, we also had colleagues from across the Commission join the event in a ‘Marketplace’, giving another valuable opportunity for operators to discuss their questions with the Commission around areas including research, policy and digital. We’d like to thank everyone who joined us on the day for their input and thoughts, with special thanks to our guest speakers for participating in another successful event.”

Speaking during the forum, director of licensing, Danielle Trigg, said: “It is another sell-out event and this is the biggest crowd that we’ve had to date. I think that speaks volumes on how much people appreciate this face-to-face type of engagement.”

Ahead of leading the panel on AML, enforcement and intelligence director John Pierce added: “We’ll be talking about case studies, and some of the issues that we’ve seen, and also some of the work that the AML team will be involved in over the next 12 months.”
