Entain has reported another year of financial losses, with the Ladbrokes Coral owner posting a £460m loss in the 2024 financial year – but its UK and Ireland performance has shown signs of improvement.
The loss is largely due to £860m in impairments, write-downs, and restructuring costs, significantly impacting bottom-line profitability. However, the group celebrated a return to growth in the UK and Ireland during the second half of the year. Ladbrokes Coral, which operates more than 3,500 betting shops across the country, maintained a steady net gaming revenue of £1.06bn despite economic pressures on the high street.
“Returning to growth in Entain’s largest market was a cornerstone of the group’s overall performance and strategic success,” commented Entain’s interim CEO Stella David. “The turnaround of our UK and Ireland Online growth was critical to the group’s performance during 2024 and demonstrates the success of our decisive actions. UK and Ireland online net gaming revenue was up 2 percent versus the prior year and, importantly, returned to year-on-year growth sooner than anticipated.”
While Entain has made strides in stabilising revenue, the group continues to face ongoing financial pressures, with restructuring efforts set to continue in 2025.
