Real Fun Group has announced the acquisition of its 11th UK club in the form of Merkur Bingo Lowestoft, with the venue now set to be rebranded as Apollo Bingo and reopened as “a place filled with fun, laughter, and of course, lots of big wins.”
Just one year after being formed, Real Fun Group has moved one step closer to becoming one
of the largest independent bingo operators in the UK after acquiring Merkur Bingo Lowestoft.
The hall becomes Real Fun’s 11th club venue, and will now be rebranded and reopened as Apollo Bingo as part of “an exciting new chapter” for the company.
“Following an interesting first year as a newly formed group, we had ambitions to further grow our estate through strategic acquisitions in the years to come,” said Real Fun founder Kevin McGinnigle.
“Whilst it might have arrived a little earlier than expected, we believe Lowestoft is exactly what we’re looking for, and we look forward to welcoming the bingo hall into the Real Fun Group. I’d like to thank the Merkur team for their cooperation during the process; they’ve been swift, transparent and a pleasure to deal with.”
Announcing the purchase via its social media channels, Real Fun said: “Make sure to stay tuned for more updates, we have big plans for this club!”
“We can’t wait to welcome both new and old faces through our doors and make Apollo Bingo Lowestoft a place filled with fun, laughter, and of course, lots of big wins!”
Commenting on the sale, Merkur CEO Mark Schertle said the deal means the company can now “sharpen our focus on our core slots and casino businesses, while ensuring the future success of our teams and enhanced bingo experience for our customers under the new leadership.”
