Rays of Sunshine is hugely grateful to its friends at Funstation for signing on as a partner for their upcoming gameathon fundraiser with YouTuber and content creator Daz Black.

This will be the second time Daz – real name Darren Black – has hosted a livestreamed fundraiser for Rays of Sunshine. Last year’s event raised more than £25,000 to help grant more magical wishes for seriously ill children across the UK.

Funstation’s support will give those tuning in the chance to win gift cards and other goodies, in exchange for their kind donations.

Daz has attracted millions of supporters in the last decade, mainly through his silly and light-hearted gaming videos and “reactions”. He first became involved with the charity after being asked to help grant a wish for one of his biggest fans, James.

Then 17-year-old James developed a love for Daz’s videos especially while undergoing treatment for his brain tumour.

“I spent a lot of time watching Daz throughout the years, and he always had the power to just really make me laugh,” said James. “When I started chemo, it was during a time when all my friends were moving on to college and getting jobs. So, especially while I was in hospital, Daz’s funny videos were so important to me.”

The pair visited Daz’s horror maze at Alton Towers, where they were the first to complete the attraction. James was also on hand to help Daz with last year’s fundraiser.

Thanks to Funstation and the fundraiser’s other partners, this year’s fundraiser promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Nicola Aquila, Major Gifts and Partnerships Lead at Rays of Sunshine, says: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have Funstation on board for this year’s Gameathon with Daz.

“Their generosity and enthusiasm will help us make the event even more exciting for viewers, while raising vital funds to brighten the lives of seriously ill children across the UK.”
