Following its partnership with CHIPS Game Nation has set out an ambitious target of raising sufficient funds to purchase a bespoke powered wheelchair by the end of the year. Fundraising will be undertaken by the entire team comprising head office, venue teams and customers.
Game Nation, the high street gaming retailer has set out an action plan of creative fund raising initiatives in support of CHIPS the children’s charity which it is partnering.
Born out of the UK gaming industry CHIPS has funded the purchase of over 700 bespoke powered wheelchairs for children who the National Health Service is unable to assist. CHIPS chairs are design engineered to meet what can be quite complex physiological needs and can cost up to £8,000.
Confirming the next steps in the partnership Game Nation CEO Mark Jepp said: “We’ve met with CHIPS co-founder Linda Lindsay and have drawn-up a plan of activities which will involve Game Nation head office, venue teams and our wonderful customers.
“We want to raise sufficient funds to purchase and present our first chair before the turn of the year. The team has responded really enthusiastically to the challenge and can’t wait to get on with raising funds to help transform the life of a youngster and his/her family. CHIPS is a quite brilliant charity which we are proud to support.”
HR Director Julie Redfern, who will help co-ordinate the Game Nation activities added: “When Mark and I talked with Linda we both came away fully committed to the unbelievable work that CHIPS has undertaken over the years. Linda has attended virtually every one of the 700+ presentations and although the stories she has are difficult to hear it’s equally uplifting to learn about the transformative impact CHIPS chairs have on the youngsters who receive them and their families.
“We have CHIPS collection boxes in every venue where customers can donate both cash and part TITO tickets. In addition we already have plans for sponsored darts and pool competitions in Folkstone, a dance marathon at our FEC in Soho, a charity baking extravaganza in Clapham with the senior team planning a charity walk! I should also add that we have already had great support from suppliers including HB Leisure and Nestle. A key feature of our CHIPS fundraising is that it will be hugely participative, great fun and driven by a desire to make a positive change.”
