Hartlepool Council seeks fair operator to “put Seaton Carew on the map”

Hartlepool Council is seeking an operator to run a new funfair on The Front in Seaton Carew for a five-year period from 2026, with the attraction intended to put the resort “on the map.”

The successful applicant would be granted a seasonal licence to run rides and amusements on the seafront plot between 1 April and 30 September every year until at least 2030.

“Seaton Carew is a visitor destination that in recent years has seen various landscaping improvements and developments including outdoor leisure facilities, ice cream parlours, bars and a bowling alley,” states the council release.

“This is an opportunity to lease approximately 0.70 acres of land for the purpose of operating funfair rides, amusements and catering vehicles. Operators must be willing to work with the Council to help form an entertainment package that puts Seaton Carew on the map.”

Opening hours for the fair will be restricted to 10am to 8pm, and the tenant will be responsible for the cost of operating the attractions, as well as business rates and utilities.

The closing date for tenders is 8 August, with all submissions to be sent in a sealed envelope marked “Seaton Carew Funfair tender” to Hartlepool Borough Council.

More information can be found on the council’s website.
