Kentish consolidation: Ivor Thomas acquires Quality Amusements

Uniting two long-established Kent family businesses, Ivor Thomas Amusements has acquired Quality Amusements, promising to retain all existing staff and service continuity.

Ivor Thomas Amusements has announced the acquisition of Quality Amusements.

“We are pleased to announce that Ivor Thomas has acquired Quality Amusements,” said a statement from Ivor Thomas Amusements. “This marks a positive step forward for both businesses as we combine our strengths and shared commitment to excellence in the amusement industry.”

Importantly, the structure that has made Quality Amusements such a success over the years will remain unchanged.

“We would like to reassure all customers that it is very much business as usual,” the spokesperson continued. “All directors and staff from Quality Amusements will remain in place, continuing to provide the same high standards of service and support.”

Founded in 1976 by Ivor Thomas Junior, Ivor Thomas Amusements has its roots in a family association with amusements dating back to 1932, when Ivor Thomas Senior began installing fruit machines in London. Over the decades, the business has grown from a single café-based operation in Ramsgate to a well-known supplier across East Kent and beyond, now led by third-generation owner Paul Thomas.

Quality Amusements also boasts a long-standing presence in the region. A family-run company with experience stretching back to the days before the UK’s 1968 Gaming Act, it has operated successfully for decades – and will now join forces with is fellow Kentish company.

With deep roots in the industry and a shared family heritage, the two businesses are poised to enter a new chapter together.

“We look forward to this new chapter and the opportunities it brings,” the statement concluded.
