Bingo is top of the regulatory agenda this month as the sector gets its views in on the latest, and potentially destructive consultation which closes next week. In the build-up though, you would never think there’s an issue as Wexel Gaming’s stand was busy at EAG. Those conversations were had on the consultation, as were talks on the Wexel products because deals were done bigly. Chris Shipley talks us through the three days.
Coinslot: How did the show go for you this year: did it meet your expectations?
Chris Shipley: The show continues to prove to be an extremely valuable opportunity for Wexel.
It enabled us to strengthen relationships with both existing and new industry partners, while also deepening our understanding of the evolving market landscape.
In particular, discussions around the forthcoming budgetary changes – the removal of Bingo Duty coming into force this April and the freeze on MGD – provided important insight into how these measures are likely to shape the sector going forward, whilst we still await the outcome of the Bingo premises consultation paper.
Coinslot: Any key developments finalised at EAG – new agreements signed, new appointments, installations agreed etc?
Chris Shipley: During the show, we held several productive discussions around adding and extending our current product portfolio. These opportunities not only reinforce our existing partnerships but also reflects the growing confidence in our solutions and the tangible value they deliver across multiple sites.
We were particularly pleased to agree terms for the continued deployment of our products with leading industry operators.
Coinslot: What were the stand highlights – which products caught the attention and what was reaction to your portfolio of products?
Chris Shipley: Interest appeared evenly spread across our entire product range, from BingoPlus and GTab to MicroBet Roulette, which continues to establish great interest in the market.
This broad engagement highlights the relevance of our portfolio and the strong appeal our solutions hold for a diverse range of customers.
Coinslot: It’s going to be a defining year for the business – new legislation and new regulation. How did you gauge the general mood of the industry and what were the main talking points?
Chris Shipley: Obviously, as mentioned above, the budgetary changes were paramount in many discussions with potential to open up avenues that were previously not on the agenda, that now are due to the unexpected announcement.
Coinslot: Now the show is over, what’s on your agenda going into spring in terms of new products, new projects and more exhibitions?
Chris Shipley: Wexel has a busy agenda of manufacturing and installations, driven both by the successes of EAG and previously secured projects.
We are also looking forward to engaging with existing and potential new customers at upcoming exhibitions, continuing to strengthen relationships, showcase our solutions, and explore fresh opportunities for growth within the market.
