Luxury Leisure has been granted change of use permission by Kirklees Council to convert a former KFC unit in Huddersfield town centre into a 24-hour Admiral AGC.
Plans were first submitted for the New Street site in August, seven months after the fast food giant left the prominent Grade II-listed premises vacant.
“Now that permission is secured, further documents concerned with shopfront alterations, listed building consent and advertisement consent, are expected to follow,” reported The Examiner.
“The gaming centre would be located on the ground floor only. The ground and first floors of the building were previously used by KFC, with
the second floor used as storage.”
New Street has been subject to several high-profile exits recently, with Beaverbrooks, Next, Brew Dog, Footasylum, and the Slug and Lettuce all leaving the street over the last twelve months.
In its application, Luxury Leisure told councillors “the proposed 24-hour use will ensure footfall to the town centre.”
