Matt Bicknell:  “Regal’s ‘right cabinet, right content, right site’ pledge is powering performance for our customers”

Regal Gaming Technologies has underlined its commitment to customers and players alike by extending its investment across cabinets, content and technology to over £60m since 2023. Managing Director of Operations Matt Bicknell expands on Regal’s strategic investment program and the power of tech.

Coinslot: Can you start by providing an overview of the investments that have been made in the last 3-years?

Matt Bicknell: We’ve upheld our commitment to providing machine players with best-in-class gaming experiences by launching four new cabinets in three years.

The quartet of cabinets generating invaluable income for Regal’s pub customers comprise the Ultramax, which continues to top the performance league tables, the Alphacurve, the Auroramax and most recently the Velocity which features an integrated video deck (V-Deck).

The V-Deck significantly enhances the player experience which has been reflected in some outstanding feedback from both players and customers.

We have committed to a content pipeline which will utilise the V-Deck in new ways taking the game experience into brand new areas of immersive play.

Coinslot: In practical terms what does the investment mean to the customer base?

Matt Bicknell: Our customers demand a tailored offering, and the strategic investment programme enables us to create a bespoke offer across all sites and accounts.

Our ‘right cabinet, right content, right site’ pledge is powering performance for our customers which in turn is upholding Regal’s position as the leading UK supplier of gaming and amusement equipment.

Coinslot: Cabinet design is one part of the proposition – how is Regal approaching the development of content?

Matt Bicknell: In the last 12-months we’ve launched 19 different pieces of gaming content which has taken our library of games to more than 90.

Some of the industry’s most recognisable titles, such as Fishin Frenzy, Eye of Horus, Napoleon, Luck of the Irish, Pompay, and Buccaneers Frenzy, have contributed significantly to both online and retail bets. Fishin Frenzy and Eye of Horus, in particular, have recorded best-in-class performance figures across all platforms.

Working in partnership with our sister company Blueprint Operations we are continuing to push the boundaries of game content. Gladiator Riches became the first true Omni-Channel game when it was released simultaneously across all channels including online, pub and club.

We will continue this strategy with future releases incorporating online and retail rollouts. Following on from the success of deploying TV brands such as Deal or no Deal Blueprint will be using the official Bullseye licence to engage customers with highly recognisable content.

Coinslot: In addition to expanding the games library what investment is Regal making in connectivity?

Matt Bicknell: We’ve retrofitted multi-sim routers to all AWPs, enabling better customer data and insight, which delivers operational efficiencies, and provides additional product offerings. We’ve also made huge advances in software development, creating platforms such as Cosmos, Nexus, Solar and Lunar which are reshaping the landscape.

The platforms are designed to enhance connectivity, streamline operations, offer real time insights and deliver unparalleled customer experiences across all devices and locations. Together they underline our commitment to staying ahead in what is an ever-evolving digital landscape, offering solutions that align with modern technological demands.

Coinslot: Is the investment restricted to a pub’s gaming machines?

Matt Bicknell: We have significantly enhanced our pool table offerings, ensuring that they meet the evolving needs of modern venues and customers. The company’s pool tables are available in both traditional and modern designs, with sizes ranging from 6ft to 7ft.

One of the key advances is the introduction of dual payment options. Customers can now choose between contactless and coin-operated payment methods, providing greater flexibility and convenience. The integration of contactless payments has been a success with significant transaction volumes recorded across multiple sites.

The investments that we’ve made reflect our status as a leading supplier providing top-quality equipment and innovative payment solutions that meet the needs of both venues and customers.

Coinslot: Lastly, in a paragraph how would you summarise the Regal vision?

Matt Bicknell: We continue to be committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation across the retail slots gaming industry. Our focus is on delivering cutting-edge technology and immersive gaming experiences that captivate players and drive growth for our partners.

Leveraging data-driven iLeveraging data-driven insights through our connectivity, we are creating personalised and engaging gambling entertainment experiences, delivering content which is targeted to meet the needs of contemporary machine players by drawing on our core competencies of content, technology, and operating excellence.
