After months of setbacks, Mr P’s Classic Amusements has announced that its Portsmouth AGC will officially open on 26 July.
The announcement comes after a challenging few weeks for the team.
“The last couple of months have been awful, in fact I’m amazed I’m still here,” the amazingly honest and earnest operator wrote in its weekly blog.
Despite the intense workload, Mr P’s pushed forward with a clear sense of purpose. “The work that goes into the machines and making them come to life again is often underrated and unseen, it’s immense,” he said, adding, “the old man once said to me ‘You’re keeping them alive, son.’”
And indeed Dave and Amelia Douglas are.
The Portsmouth location promises a fresh experience with a revamped entry system to ensure fairness.
“If any of the black knight brigade turn up then even if they camped out the night before it will make no bearing on them being first in,” he stated, referencing previous enthusiastic openings. “We learnt from one of the black knight brigade almost knocking out Mike who opened Fareham last year through their desperation to play the resets and never return. Many of the games, as stated already, have already been run through other sites to mitigate this and keep it fair for all.”
Mr P’s Portsmouth AGC will open at 10.05am, following the operator’s tradition of opening five minutes late.
