Southport Pier has unveiled a fresh new appearance ahead of a major restoration project.
The update was highlighted by a local business group, which shared its enthusiasm for newly installed graphics at the pier’s entrance.
“Southport Pier is getting a new look today! I love these new pier graphics on the boards at the entrance to the pier.”
The improvements come as momentum builds for a significant £20m restoration scheme. The project is set to be carried out by AE Yates, following successful funding secured by Sefton Council. Some residents however, are concerned that the pier’s vintage amusements might not make the cut.
“Anyone know what will happen to the vintage arcade?” Asked Josh W. “Really hope it stays, I loved them. I’m gonna guess they will all get stripped out and taken away but I don’t know where. Probably some new business will come in and charge £5 for a small hot drink and kids ice cream.”
