NSM’s Atom passes the 3,000 sales mark to become the UK’s fastest selling jukebox in half a century

The records are tumbling for NSM’s Atom jukebox as music becomes one of the must-have offerings in leisure venues. It’s a timely arrival for a hospitality sector under intense financial pressure – a fiscal boost from its jukebox could help offset some of those tax hikes in the recent Budget.

It’s barely 60 weeks since the Atom was launched as the first ever jukebox brought to market for under-£1,000. And how that USP has evolved over the 14 months since it rolled out from NSM Music’s Leeds warehouse on a sunny day in September 2023.

Within months it became the fastest selling jukebox of the year, then the biggest selling jukebox of the year. By spring it became the fastest and biggest seller in the UK for a decade, and on its first anniversary that decade high had transformed into the hihgest this century.

The landmarks continue to be recorded: now, the Atom has hit the unprecedented level of 3,000 units sold into UK venues – the largest market share of any new jukebox model in recent history – and all in the space of just 430 days.

The race to Atom number 3,000 has been intense – all the leading operators have signed up to the pioneering high spec, small footprint, low price jukebox including Regal, Bob Rudd, Ivor Thomas, Inspired, Sims Automatics and Tamar Gaming to name just a few.

Atom number 3,000 was purchased by Bob Rudd Leisure on the completion of a sizeable Atom deal and now resides in a venue in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

“It was difficult to keep track of the ground-breaking sale,” explained sales manager Alex Kirby. “We’d just taken delivery of our next wave of Atoms which were heading out almost immediately around the country.

“It wasn’t until we wrote the serial number on the delivery note that we realised we were shipping number 3000, and it was to Nick at Bob Rudd. What a landmark for such an amazing product and we were delighted it was Bob Rudd that got it.”

Nick Rudd was the man who collected the landmark Atom, and it’s certainly making its mark in the Bob Rudd portfolio.

“Our latest jukebox upgrade project has been significantly enhanced by the addition of the Atom,” he told Coinslot. “ This model stands out in the market for both its affordability and sleek design. It’s exciting to see more venues recognising the value of jukeboxes again, especially since many don’t have room for the larger wall-mounted options available.”

He added: “Having collaborated with NSM for over 30 years, we’re thrilled to be the recipient of the 3000th Atom!”

The Atom story is a technical and marketing study all of its own; it has piled in all the top specs of the best jukeboxes … and more; it has taken a small, slim line and, for want of a better word, sexy style; and it’s affordable price, after sales support and added benefits such as the exclusive jukebox partner of the UK’s Official Charts Company, Co-Pilot and the NSM Music consumer App, has made it a market force – not just in traditional jukebox venues but operations in sectors new to the music offering.

“It’s been just over a year now and the feedback has been phenomenal for our customers,” Kirby noted. “But there’s still so much more to come from the Atom for our customers and partners, and that’s what’s maintaining the momentum. It’s going to be a very busy 2025.”

And not just in the UK it seems. Shipments have been sent to Austria, Denmark, Germany, Ireland and Spain over the past few weeks with further new territories are also booked in.

The road to 3,500 Atoms has already begun.
