A new free-play pinball arcade- Oh, Flip! – is coming to York this May, after enthusiast Rosalyn Aspinall secured floorspace for ten machines within the established two-storey city centre gaming complex Up A Level.

The venue will officially open on 3 May after a special screening of Pinball: The Man Who Saved The Game at City Screen Picturehouse, and will feature “titles ranging from the 1970s all the way up to modern day.”

“I’d love to have some true pinball fans present for the launch, as I’m really keen to get feedback and impressions from those who are very familiar with the game,” said Aspinall. “I really want to create a great environment for both absolute beginners, and hardcore pinball enthusiasts.”

Apsinall had originally hoped to open Oh Flip in container complex Spark York, however she added “things started moving really positively when I started talking with Up A Level.”

“There’s space for, at a real squash, up to 16 games, including some back-of-house room for repairs and maintenance.”

The launch event will begin at 3.30pm on 3 May, with attendees encouraged to register their interest via eventbrite.
