Llandudno Pier GM Paul Williams has shared a heartfelt thank you to both staff and visitors after a season of highs and lows for the popular pier, including the painstaking recovery from damage caused by Storm Darragh in 2024 to the high point award of Pier of the Year 2025.
Llandudno Pier General Manager Paul Williams has shared a “huge thank you” with both guests and staff after a successful season, during which the attraction rebounded from the devastation caused last winter by Storm Darragh.
Despite damage to the pier structure and heritage buildings, the landmark was able to reopen in time for the peak summer period before being awarded the hotly-contested title of Pier of the Year 2025.
“Huge thank you to all our amazing guests who have visited us this season, and the ongoing support we get from the local community,” said Williams. “We hope you have enjoyed your time with us the past six weeks.”
“Running such an iconic landmark takes huge effort and it simply would not be possible without my amazing team behind me, from my management and office team, through to the maintenance, arcade and senior supervisors/team leaders; they have all been amazing.”
The message, posted via Facebook, was liked by more than 1,400 people, with over a hundred comments expressing their support and gratitude for the pier’s ongoing success.
Concluding his message, Williams also singled out “the team members who are there on the coal face day in day out serving thousands of scoops of ice cream, pints, and fish and chips… and contrary to popular belief we do not train the seagulls. You have all been outstanding.”
“The Pier remains fully open for the rest of the year with live music every weekend throughout September. Hope to see you all soon.”
And I’d like to thank…
