Play Leisure Services has been announced as the new owner of Trago’s Family Fun Park in Newton Abbott, with the machine supplier set to reopen the fun park in time for Easter, ushering in “a vibrant new chapter” for one of the region’s most treasured but neglected attractions.
Arcade, amusement and vending machine supplier Play Leisure Services has acquired Trago’s Family Fun Park in Newton Abbott, with plans underway to reopen the much-loved attraction in time for Easter.
The firm has announced it will usher in “a vibrant new chapter” for the attraction, renovating existing rides such as Splash Adventure and the Model Railway, while investing in substantial improvements to ensure “a strong and sustainable future.”
“I used to come to Trago’s Fun Park as a child, and like so many local families, I have fantastic memories of days spent here,” said Play Leisure MD Matthew Conridge. “I didn’t want to see it stay closed.”
“This place is part of Devon’s story. We’re incredibly proud to be bringing it back to life and ensuring a new generation can make those same memories.”
The Family Fun Park was formerly part of the Trago south west retail and leisure empire, and was closed on 31 December after the board deemed the attraction was “no longer financially viable.”
Taking the reins, Play Leisure has committed to reopening all rides across the park, including the “world-famous Model Railway, a firm favourite with generations of visitors,” while celebrating the much-loved Bickington Steam Railway, which has remained operational despite the closure.
“In addition to reopening the attractions, a programme of ongoing improvements is already underway. Over the coming weeks, behind-the-scenes updates and progress will be shared on TikTok, giving the community a front-row seat as the park prepares to welcome visitors once again.”
“The reopening represents more than just the return of a family day out. It signals renewed confidence, investment, and opportunity for the local economy, supporting jobs and tourism across the region.”
With Easter now approaching, Play Leisure encouraged those keen to return to the park to “keep an eye out for exciting launch promotions and special opening offers as the countdown begins.”
“Further details, including confirmed opening dates and promotional announcements, will be revealed soon. Follow the journey on TikTok over the coming weeks and join the countdown to a truly special Easter at Trago’s Family Fun Park.”
