The German division of leisure and travel company the TUI Group has crowned the Pleasure Beach in Blackpool as “Europe’s most action-packed theme park.”
The Hanover-based company rated the Pleasure Beach over tough competitors including Thorpe Park, Germany’s Phantasialand and Gardaland in Italy.
The company’s researchers said that the prize position was in recognition of the high-number of high-thrill rides as a share of the total number of rides present at each location: with a full 40 per cent of experiences at the Pleasure Beach falling into this action-packed category.
TUI said rides such as the iconic Big One rollercoaster, newby rollercoaster ICON and even old rides like the Big Dipper had helped carry the park over the line in its earning of the “most exciting” moniker.
Meanwhile, management at the Pleasure Beach don’t seem to be taking the plaudits for granted. Just a few months ago, top-brass announced that the 2026 season will see the opening of new swinging pendulum thrill-ride, Avitkas.
Indeed, at the time of the ride’s announcement, the park’s CEO Amanda Thompson pledged that the “epic height” of Avitkas would mark “an exciting milestone not just for Pleasure Beach, but for the UK theme park industry as a whole.”
