Pleasurewood Hills theme park sold to Premier Attractions

Premier Attractions Ltd has acquired Pleasurewood Hills theme park from the Looping Group, with the sale marking an “exciting new chapter” for the Felixstowe attraction, which last year reported a pre-tax loss of £340,000.

Premier Attractions, the amusement ride and attraction operator owned by the Stokes family, has officially acquired the Pleasurewood Hills theme park in Felixstowe from Looping Group, with the new owners promising an “exciting new chapter” for the site.

The Looping Group first purchased Pleasurewood Hills in 2011 from Compagnie des Alpes, and despite boasting 35 family focused rides, the park has recently endured a difficult financial period, with losses for 2024 totalling £340,000.

“We’re delighted to announce that Pleasurewood Hills has officially been acquired by Premier Attractions Ltd,” said a spokesperson for the theme park. “This marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the park, and we can’t wait to share our vision and future plans with you.”

“There’s so much in store – and we’ll be revealing more details very soon.”

Pleasurewood Hills was first opened in 1983 by Joe Larter, and rapidly grew into one of the region’s premier family attractions, known for rides such as the Jolly Roger drop Tower and the area’s tallest rollercoaster Wipeout, which is also the UK’s last remaining Vekoma Boomerang.

Commenting on the sale, a spokesperson for Looping Group said the Stokes family “enjoy a strong reputation in the leisure industry across the United Kingdom.”

“Given the recent development of Looping, a strong local player like Premier Attractions Ltd is best positioned to bring Pleasurewood Hills to its full potential.

“We would like to express our sincere thanks to [GM] Ricky Lark and his teams for their dedication and hard work over the past years. We wish them and the Stokes family every success in this new chapter.”
