Police show strong interest in Innovotive Technology’s MyCheckR system

Lancashire Constabulary has been exploring the options of Innovative Technology’s MyCheckR system as a way to reduce underage sales at off-licensed premises in Preston.

“Great to meet and catch up with Andy Bullock from Innovative Technology Ltd this morning around the MyCheckR system and the project I’m hoping to launch in Preston to help minimise underage sales at Off Licensed premises,” commented police licensing officer Ste Connolly.

The police authorities have been showing keen interest in the industry’s safer gambling innovations, notably ITL’s age verification products which drew intense interest from the various forces that attended the Gambling Business Group’s High Street Hub at the ARE Expo in April. Back then a number of the police representatives were interested in how the technology could be applied in other high street locations.

The MyCheckR system is a standalone device that performs anonymous age checks to help prevent minors from purchasing age-restricted goods such as alcohol, vapes, tobacco, and knives. It gives staff a clear signal when a manual ID check is recommended, supporting licensing objectives, reducing potential abuse, and enabling staff to make confident, informed decisions during the sales process.

As part of the collaboration, Bullock has loaned a demonstration model to aid in securing support for the initiative.

“Andy has been kind enough to loan me a demo model to gain support for the project,” concluded Connolly. “Whilst updating the device we discussed plenty of LA03 matters and how tech can be used to assist regulators and industry alike.”
