Ahead of May’s local elections, Reform UK has announced the platform on which it intends to challenge the government, including a proposal to “save our pubs.”
Amid a raft of populist measures announced by leader Nigel Farage this month, the party stated it will look to reduce beer duty and cut VAT for the hospitality sector.
“Reform says it will ‘save our pubs,’” reported Reuters. “It has outlined plans to reduce the VAT sales tax to 10 percent for the hospitality sector and scrap the employer National Insurance increase.”
“It would also cut beer duty by 10 percent and gradually abolish business rates for all pubs.”
Reuters added the party is “well ahead of the governing Labour Party and the opposition Conservatives in British opinion polls before local elections in May and a national vote due by 2029.”
