Industry veteran Rex Sargent has passed away, after a career spent in amusement machine sales spanning four decades.
Paying tribute, family friend and colleague Mick Blanche described Sargent as “a long-standing industry legend.”
“Rex Sargent started his sales path in the mid 80s working with Associated Leisure Sales for four years, and formed relationships with friends and clients covering all of the south of the United Kingdom,” Blanche told Coinslot.
“Not only was he a good sales advisor, he became long-standing friends with many people in that area, and indeed was still in touch with. He also served on a number of industry committees.”
After ALS, Sargent joined MDM Leisure where he spent the majority of his career, before a short time representing Wessex Coin.
“His last move was to Blue Monkey Sales where he worked very happily, well into his 80s,” added Blanche. “Rex was renowned for his impersonation of Jethro. He held audiences at the dinner table and at trade shows with his inimitable dialect and anecdotes from Jethro to the amusement of many friends.”
“Rex died peacefully in his sleep being cared for by his son Gary and his wife, his funeral arrangements have not been made yet but will be announced in due course.”
