With its Air Hockey and American pool tables performing strongly throughout 2024, SAM Leisure is ready to introduce its proven product portfolio to a diverse range of operators at this year’s EAG, including a debut appearance of SAM’s brand new Hello Kitty branded baby air hockey. Looking forward to meeting customers old and new on 14-16 January, sales manager Liam Barrett spoke to Coinslot about both his expectations for the upcoming expo, and for the year ahead.
Coinslot: This year expanded and diversified EAG is anticipated to be one of heavy footfall and strong investment. As an exhibitor, what are you hoping to achieve on the show floor?
Liam Barrett: The big plus SAM Leisure gain from exhibiting is meeting all our trade customers across the table, the pool table. There is no substitute for seeing our tables in the flesh.
Diversification has also encouraged more new entrants to the market. Many with no previous experience in pay to play table games. It’s vital we have the opportunity to meet these customers at the venue planning stage and give them the benefit of our extensive experience. Yes, because we want to sell our product, but also because we want to help maximise their revenue.
So simply put, we hope for high footfall at EAG, from anyone and everyone looking to invest in amusement venues in 2025 and build lasting relationships.
Coinslot: As the first major exhibition of the year on the global industry calendar, EAG comes with the expectation of exciting product launches. Can you give us an idea of the innovations in store for visitors of SAM Leisure’s expo stand?
Liam Barrett: There will be the usual nuances in cabinet and cloth design to show, with great emphasis on contactless payment facilities.
The new launch will be of SAM’s new Hello Kitty branded baby air hockey. The addition of this hugely popular global brand to our already well established baby hockey is a win-win for all venues aiming to appeal to younger players. The same robust and reliable machine in a new exciting livery that is immediately recognisable to children across the globe.
Coinslot: Attendees will also expect to see your bread-and-butter best sellers on display. Which products were cleaning up in 2024?
Liam Barrett: SAM Magno American pool tables were once again the star of the year. Proven reliability and player appeal is now augmented by the ease and convenience of contactless payment systems. These perennial high revenue pieces are being specified in all manner of traditional entertainment venues and new concepts.
It was also pleasing to see a growth in sales of the SAM K Steel professional American pool table. Experienced club operators choosing the table with an unrivalled pedigree and made for the long term. Air Hockey sales improved throughout the year and we already have orders stretching into 2025. Testament to the quick ROI customers have already seen on their previous purchases.
Coinslot: Finally, what do you want to see the government focus on this year?
Liam Barrett: Restoring some consumer confidence will be key to boosting entertainment spending.
Anything the incoming government can do to help people feel they have some money in their pockets
will help.
Recognising the dire straits the pub, club and night time economy is in, then providing appropriate assistance and support to the industry is also vital.
