Great Yarmouth residents have expressed their delight at the progress of Britannia Pier’s ongoing redevelopment and the resort’s residents will be heading to the attraction for its offiicial opening on 14 June.
The redevelopment of the entrance building at Britannia Pier in Great Yarmouth is already receiving a positive response from residents and tourists, with a recent image of the ongoing construction work posted on Facebook attracting over a hundred comments.
And the owners of the pier, understandably, are in buoyant mood ahead of the formal opening. “After all our hard work during the winter months we are now very happy and proud to announce the official opening day of The New Britannia Pier!!” they wrote.
“Keep Saturday 14th June free in your diaries for a great fun day out with us all with loads going on for the whole family. Harbour Radio will be kicking things off out the front from 11am alongside our characters, stilt walkers and live DJs…..leading us up to the official opening by the Mayor then continuing on throughout the afternoon and evening with more entertainment.”
And expect an eager crowd in three weeks time, enticed by a photograph, taken by local aerial image specialist Oliv3r Drone Photography, on the pier’s website, showing the two new domed towers illuminated at dusk and the frontage awaiting its digital sign, prompting multiple messages of encouragement from regular visitors.
“Lots of investment in the town can only be a good thing,” wrote Jonathan Webber. “Good old Yarmouth is looking good in my opinion and improving constantly.”
Linda Webber agreed, writing “[I’ve] been this week and as you say it’s improving no end, looking great!,” while Helen Davies added “it looks so much better now.”
Angela Docwra wrote “I think the owners are doing a fantastic job and investing so much, good luck to them. Once finished the front will look great too.”
