Six months ago Porthcawl was mourning the loss of its key attraction Coney Beach Amusement Park. This week Studt’s have come to the rescue bringing its seasonal funfair Fun Land to the resort.
Studt’s Events has officially opened the Fun Land in Porthcawl, allowing local residents and visitors to enjoy the thrill of rides and attractions for the first time since the closure of Coney Beach amusement park in October.
The seasonal fair welcomed its first guests on 28 March, and will run through the summer until September, as Bridgend Council advances its plans to redevelop the seafront as a residential and leisure destination.
“Bridgend Council said it was great to see their plans for the town ‘starting to come together’ as part of their wider regeneration programme,” reported Wales Online. “The fairground has been opened in time for the Easter holidays offering parents an ideal day out.”
“Fun Land Porthcawl, operated by Studt’s Events will be open daily from Saturday, 28 March to Sunday, 12 April and then will be open for weekends and school holidays ‘throughout the season.’”
Fun Land is located by Salt Lake, featuring an observation wheel, family rides, and food stalls, and will also host several “gigantic” summer firework displays.
Commenting on the opening, Henry Studt said: “We are genuinely delighted to be bringing a family funfair to Porthcawl and are looking forward to playing a positive part in the town’s seasonal offer for residents and visitors.”
