Plans for a new Club 3000 Bingo venue in Bristol have attracted overwhelming public support.
More than 400 letters have been submitted to Bristol City Council backing proposals by the operator.
Supporters have highlighted the social and emotional importance of the venue, particularly for older residents. One letter stated: “It was a community at Club 3000. It was good to come together and meet the same people week after week who eventually became friends.”
Another added: “It was a place where many elderly could go daily to keep warm, have a cheap meal and keep their minds active with a game of bingo.”
The loss of the previous venue has had a significant impact, with one supporter writing: “This club means an awful lot to many people, especially the older ones.”
Others stressed its importance for wellbeing: “I need this, it gets me out. I am a lonely lady, this helps me to mix with others, please let (it) go ahead, I need to go for my mental health.”
Councillors are expected to decide on the application by the end of April.
