Tenpin brings bowling back to Redditch for first time in 25 years

Tenpin is to open a new bowling alley in Redditch, almost 25 years after the last bowling centre in the Worcestershire town closed its doors.

The 28,500 sq ft venue will occupy a former B&M store in the Kingfisher shopping centre, featuring 22 lanes, three escape rooms, laser tag, karaoke and interactive darts.

“We are excited to share that we are opening a new site in Redditch” said regional manager Sue Clews. “This venue promises to provide guests with a range of activities for all ages and occasions, and we can’t wait to welcome the first customers through the doors.”

As well as entertainment activities, Tenpin Redditch will also house a 140-seat bar with pool tables, offering food and drink as well as screens showing live sport.

The venue will be the town’s first bowling alley since Megabowl closed in 2001, and the announcement was met with approval from local residents.

Posting on Redditch Advertiser’s social media, Becky Carpenter said: “Brilliant idea, central location for those relying on public transport, plenty of parking. It should help retailers when considering renting a unit with the increasing footfall.”

Joy Haffner added “I think it will be good at least it will be one less empty unit in the shopping centre,” while Carolyn Croft wrote “we need something to attract people young and old to Redditch. I think it should do well.”
