The Bingo Association celebrates raising over £2m for Variety with event at Houses of Parliament

Representatives from across the UK bingo sector joined the Bingo Association at the Houses of Parliament last week to celebrate the industry raising £2m for Variety – The Children’s Charity, with players, club colleagues, and several MPs among the 130 guests attending the event, including gambling minister Baroness Twycross.

The Bingo Association brought the UK’s land-based bingo sector together at the Houses of Parliament last week for a Parliamentary Reception to celebrate a major fundraising milestone, with the industry having now raised £2m for Variety – The Children’s Charity.

Bingo players, club colleagues, industry representatives, and MPs such as Baroness Twycross were among the 130 guests attending the event on 12 June, which recognised the bingo community’s vital role in supporting charitable causes.

“This event is a celebration of what the bingo community stands for – generosity, compassion, humility, and a deep-rooted connection to the people and places in our communities” said BA CEO Miles Baron.

“I’m incredibly proud of the £2m raised for Variety and the donation of 38 Sunshine Coaches. It’s a testament to the tireless efforts of bingo clubs and their customers up and down the scountry.”

During the reception, the £2m cheque was officially presented on behalf of the Bingo Association by Cardiff West MP Alex Barros-Curtis to the CEO of Variety, Laurence Guinness.

“We are so proud of our long-standing partnership with The Bingo Association,” said Guinness. “This support transforms the lives of the vulnerable children and young people we work with every day. To see this impact recognised in Parliament is incredibly special.”

However, the BA will not stop there, with Baron also taking the opportunity to announce a new Target 50 fundraising initiative, with a pledge to raise at least £150,000 every year until the association can increase the number of Sunshine Coaches donated to 50.
