The closure of Barry Island’s Aerospace ride is greatly exaggerated, says Danter

Barry Island’s Aerospace  ride is set to return despite rumours of its permanent closure circling in the Welsh seaside resort.

The towering 200ft attraction, which has been noticeably absent from Pleasure Park, was temporarily dismantled over winter, but park owner Henry Danter has confirmed its comeback is imminent.

“There is no truth to its closure,” Danter assured. “We simply had to disassemble the ride over the winter months due to changing weather. Since it wasn’t in use, it made sense to take it down for now.”

Concerns had been growing among locals and visitors alike, with many wondering whether the £3 million ride – one of the tallest thrill rides in Europe – was gone for good. However, Danter confirmed that its return was delayed due to recent amber weather alerts.

“We were planning on bringing it back last weekend, but with the amber alerts, it was obviously not the right time,” he continued. “It will be going back up over the next few days though!”

Since its debut in 2022, Aerospace has been a major draw for the park, with Danter previously calling it “the greatest thrill ride ever invented”. With its comeback now confirmed, thrillseekers can rest easy – at least until their next exhilarating ride.
