The Clacton and Frinton Gazette has reported that “business is booming in Clacton-on-Sea” this summer as hot weekend weather draws families to the coast, adding that “nowhere is the buzz more electric than on Clacton Pier.”
Clacton businesses are benefiting from the recent spell of hot weather, with thousands of families making their way to the Essex coastline to enjoy the town’s arcades, restaurants and attractions of the landmark pier.
According to the Clacton and Frinton Gazette, the resort has been “radiating energy and optimism” in the summer sun, adding that “nowhere is the buzz more electric than on Clacton Pier.”
“With beaches packed, arcades overflowing, and queues outside nearly every seafront restaurant, Clacton is enjoying a much-needed surge of visitors and revenue,” reported the paper.
“The Hook, a favourite for fish and chips, had lines snaking out the door, with eager customers waiting up to 30 minutes for a taste of the seaside staple which has earned a near-legendary reputation. Just down the promenade, ice cream kiosks and doughnut stands struggled to keep up with demand.”
The town’s arcades were also “teeming with families feeding coins into machines as the sounds of jackpots and laughter filled the air,” while the pier itself was “operating at peak capacity.”
Pier communications director Nigel Brown added that last weekend “had the feel of the good old days,” with an influx of visitors seeking entertainment.
“When the weather is that warm, families tend to make for the beaches for a lot of the day, but we were busy – especially when they all came up off the sands. It always makes a huge difference when there is a good forecast in advance and then the weather lives up to expectations.”
