Walton Pier to keep the arcade and rides open throughout the winter weekends

Rides and attractions at Walton Pier are to remain open every weekend throughout the winter season,according to the operation, including the attraction’s popular 115 metre-long arcade.

Walton Pier has confirmed it will be keeping its arcade and rides open on weekends throughout the winter season, while annual repair and maintenance work is undertaken during the week. 

Customers will be able to enjoy the attractions at the distinctive red and yellow pier from 10am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays, including the 115 metre-long arcade, which reopened after a major renovation in 2022.

“Walton Pier will be keeping its rides open on the weekends,” reported the Clacton and Frinton Gazette.“The iconic structure, which was built in 1830, is going against traditional pier norm and will be allowing the public to use the pier to its full potential throughout winter“

Activities include bowling,soft play, the arcade,escape rooms, Tides and the cafe. The recently upgraded arcade includes classic games which can be played alongside today’s latest interactive high-tech games.”

Confirming the move, a spokesperson for the pier said:“Winter is here and our opening and closing is a little different. Don’t worry, on weekends everything is open.”

“Please bear with us whilst we navigate through these cold months and thank you for all of your ongoing support, we see you, we hear you and we appreciate you.”

Winter work will include repairing and refurbishing wood planks at the head of the pier, with the operator adding: “The wood planks on the pier do get pushed up or damaged by rough seas from time to time. These get repaired as soon as possible.”“There are many planks and this is an ongoing part of our maintenance.”
