Wetherpoons eyes six new unique sites for new national expansion

JD Wetherspoons is in the process of opening an additional six locations nationwide, including its first ever site on the Isle of Man.

The wave of new openings follows on from a small number of closures announced at the end of last year, despite 2024 yielding growth for the pubco in both revenue and profit.

But these closures were clearly just a temporary strategic retreat for Spoons, which now has its eyes on a number of unique locations for its latest expansionary effort: which not only includes the company’s first Manx positioning, but also the old ticket hall of Fulham Broadway tube station, the former site of the London Dungeon, and even the old Chiltern cinema in Beaconsfield (artist impression pictured).

Off the high street meanwhile, and Spoons has furthered its symbiotic relationship with Haven Holidays: opening up its first bespoke Haven pub at the resort operator’s Primrose Valley site in Yorkshire late last year, with a further four locations welcoming Haven holiday-makers at additional sites nation-wide in recent months.
