Sumo wrestling, may be one of the world’s oldest sports, dating back some 1,500 years but it didn’t stop two of Japan’s elite wrestlers dropping by Game Nation’s Soho Las Vegas venue to sample some of the newest out of home entertainment.
The team working at Game Nation’s Soho Las Vegas venue was subject to what was described as a ‘surreal moment’ when two Sumo wrestlers popped in to experience some of the brand’s famous hospitality and take the weight off their feet.
The duo, who posed for selfies with customers and staff, were part of the 40-strong group of Japan’s elite maku-uchi rikishi (wrestlers) who were participating in the sold-out Grand Sumo Tournament at The Royal Albert Hall.
Reflecting on what was a unique and unexpected insight to the world of Sumo, venue Supervisor Stafford Tomlinson said “Bit of an understatement but It’s not every day that you bump into two elite Sumo wrestlers at your place of work slap bang in the heart of Soho! They were taking time out of the Grand Sumo tournament at the Royal Albert Hall and stopped by, which definitely added some unexpected excitement to the day!”
He continued: “Kamran from our Chinatown Venue Manager just happened to pop in at the same time which made for a brilliant and unforgettable moment. Of all of the options that the guys had to take some time out and relax in London they chose our venue – so we must be doing something right!”
Game Nation CEO Mark Jepp added: “One of the wonderful things about working in this industry is that you truly never know who might drop by for a bit of downtime. Whether you’re a regular, a first-timer, or… a champion Sumo wrestler – you’re always very welcome at Game Nation!”
