The all-party parliamentary group on Gambling Reform has announced it will hold a one-off session next month on “the proliferation of B3 Gaming Machines and Adult Gaming Centres” in the UK.
The 8 July meeting will feature speakers from the University of Glasgow, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the Social Market Foundation, Brent Council, The Guardian, and two people with “lived experience.”
“The APPG on Gambling Reform has arranged a number of sessions that will analyse various measures announced by the Government as part of the White Paper, as well as the key areas that were absent from the measures announced by the previous Government in April 2023,” said Lewis Klein, from the APPG secretariat.
“Our upcoming session, scheduled to take place on Tuesday 8 July, 3.00pm to 4.30pm, in the Palmer Room, One Great George Street, Westminster, SW1P 3AA, will focus on ‘The Proliferation of B3 Gaming Machines and Adult Gaming Centres.’”
In an extraordinary step, the session does not include any representation from the industry. There will be no discussion on age verification innovations and the ongoing investment in the development of world leading safer gambling technology for example.
And equally surprising, the assembly of anti-gambling les miserables elite will almost certainly close off any of the widespread criticisms of the GSGB, the exploitation of a debunked calculus for gambling related suicide rates and the vital role of the industry in the revival of the high street.
And we wonder why the public holds our politicians in such contempt.
