Arcade Time Machine lodges plans for Stockton high street

Arcade Time Machine has applied to convert a former solicitor’s office in Stockton town centre into a retro arcade, offering customers “a unique blend of nostalgia, entertainment, and social engagement.”

The plans for 111 High Street have been lodged by Jonathan Gouder, and propose the creation of a family-friendly arcade hub specialising in “fully customisable” children’s parties and events.

“We’re a passionate team of retro gaming lovers who believe that classics like Pac-Man, Streets of Rage, House of the Dead, and Outrun still deserve the spotlight,” said a spokesperson. “With over 60 games to play, our arcade is a tribute to the golden era, packed with video games from 80s, 90s and beyond.”

“Whether you’re a high-score chaser, a nostalgic gamer, or introducing a new generation to the magic of pixel-perfect adventures, this is your place! With a mix of lightguns, steering wheels or joystick games, every visit is a trip back in time.”

Reporting on the submission, the Northern Echo wrote that “the space, which was previously home to a Watson Woodhouse Solicitors’ office, does not have any planned external changes.”

“Internal modifications are expected to include only decoration and the installation of gaming equipment, counters and seating. According to official documents, the venue will concentrate on daytime and early evening opening times.”
